Tremors in Singapore

Hey guys, there was a earthquake in Sumatra Indonesia just now and the tremors were felt in some parts of Singapore. Click here for more news.
Well, Eil was looking at the computer just now when she felt a little dizzy... She thought that it was from overworking (I personally thinks its coz she's be reading up too much news on Mr Rain) and went to the washroom when a colleague ran along the corridoor to tell everyone to evacuate the building as the building was shaking.
So later on when more people were gathered at the open area, some people were sharing their experience. Some of them felt nothing.. Eil's colleague said she saw the cubicle wall shook.
She later send phone messages to some other friends in different parts of Singapore and seems that they felt the tremor and were evacuated from their buildings too.
But we're all ok now, Eil's back in office now after an early lunch break. Thank you Isabella for asking about me. You got your news fast. ;)

Hi Fu Fu,
My mum was in the office when she felt it (she works in HarbourFront right where the cable car tower is located) and thought the cable cars were falling on her.. But she claims that she is a very 'dedicated' (silly, I would say) worker cos she continued to work.. Duh! My papa said that office buildings were evacuating people along Robinson Rd.. wowieee.

Fu Fu, Did you feel it at all? We only get the teeniest of teeniest tremors here, and only once every couple of years. If you were sleeping, you wouldn't even wake up.

Hey Fufu,
My mom was also evacuated from her office building today. She felt only the first tremor before lunch & she thought she was shivering cos she was too hungry. Sheesh...
I'm glad we are all ok. Phew.
PS: Has Eli seen Mr Rain's new movie? My Mom says she wanna watch it soon.

Hi Nugget & Zach, everyone's ok in Singapore.

Chiyo, I think it depends which part of Spore you're in to feel the shake

Boo, Eil's on the 3rd floor and she felt dizzy from the tremors

Huskee, it'll be really scary if those cable cars dropped down. Eil is also a 'dedicated' worker. Yeah I heard some company let their staff go home after the quake.

Simba, Oscar & Maggie, Thanks. We're all ok here

ume tyan, there was an aftershock about 1 hr later. But I think it's more common for quakes to happen in Japan right?

Hey Roxie, Sammy & Andy, boy was Eil dizzy. We hope it's the last too.

Boy n Baby, was it bad at your home? I saw the news last nite and some people's house wall cracked.

Jeannie & Marvin, thank you for thinking of us. We're all ok in Singapore.

Finnegan's Mummy, Amber, Sam & Sweets. Thank you guys. We're safe now

Sophie, really? You slept thru it?

Wally, thank you for thinking about us. We're ok now

Buster.. I think my hamster house did move. Eekss

Luckie, glad to hear that you're ok too. Yeah Eil felt dizzy too. Yeah Eil saw Mr Rain's movie already and she said it's funny. Ask your mom to tell Eil if she liked the movie after watching it. :)

Joey.. it was scary when the humans were told to evacuate.

Hey Isabella, thanks for thinking about us. We're all ok. Most of the people in Singapore didn't even felt the tremor

Fufu, you can report what you felt on the USGS web site. Here is a link to get you started: http://earthquake.usgs.gov/eqcenter/recenteqsww/Maps/region/Asia.php

Click on that link, then you will see "Did you feel it?--Report an earthquake"

Then click on "Other Countries"

Pick the quake you felt then you can report on it.

My mom did this when she felt a quake in California last Thursday. If you complete the survey, then you will be able to see the results of which people in which cities reported it.

Hana said...

Oh, after you pick the quake, a new page comes up with a map. At the top is a link that says "did you feel it? Tell us"

Fu Fu said...

Thanks Hana, will check up on that link later. :)

Hi Butchy & Snickers
There were no major damages here. The news report that some people's house wall had crake lines but generally all in Singapore are ok and no one was hurt.
