Learning to shake paws

In my quest to become a doggie, Eil is teaching me some common doggie tricks.
I can do sit very well and for very long period of time. Hee

These days when Eil is in front of my cage, sometimes I'll put my paws on the bars of my cage.

Then Eil would put out a finger and hold my paw and say "Shake hand". At first I didn't like it and pull my paw back quickly. After a few more times, I would let her hold my paw a little longer before I pull it back. (If she gives me a treat like walnut, I'll let her hold longer) It's not really that fun for me but it seems to entertain Eil a lot.

Is shaking paws a good trick to learn? Can my doggie friends please advise...

Yep, you're doing great channeling your 'inner dog'. Keep up the good work!

I would say Shake a paw or what mum calls it "PAW" is a very good trick to learn, especially for a hamster!! Wow Fufu, you must be the smartest, and most popular hamster out there. Hey, I'm sure you will have no problem learning "Wipe face" command, which I'm having a lot of difficulty with.....

Thank you for visiting my blog so regularly. If you like my blog and have a moment, I hope you will go to Awesome Blog Award at D.W.B Bone Zone and vote for me...

FuFu, you are the first blogging hamster I have met. I think you are just perfect as a hamster and don't need to be a dog. You are so cute!

dear fufu,

i am happy to meet you! and let me assure you that i am small animals friendly - i have two pet rabbits who are just a little bigger than you and i love them to bits (not literally). i wish they would be more hardworking like you though. those two absolutely refuse to learn anything.

as for tips on learning to paw, remember it's training time for the parents, and you must be very firm about the treats: no treats, no shake. it may take them a while to learn, and they may even attempt the trick without a treat in hand, but you must persevere. i trained my parents this way! happy training!

Hey Fu Fu,
Wow.. I am impressed!! I think you are SO much more intelligent than my 2 hamster sisters.. they don't do anything but eat & sleep.. it's hopeless trying to teach them anything...
